Autism Assembly

This week we have taken part in Autism Awareness Week and have focused on the message "It's ok to be different."

"Although 99% of the public have heard of Autism, only 16% of autistic people feel that the public understands them." (The National Autistic Society)

We want our children to understand others differences and therefore yesterday Mrs Hoffman led an assembly to deliver the message "It's ok to be different". The children were given the opportunity to discuss differences and disabilities and were shown a video of Rosie, a little girl with Autism.

They also enjoyed meeting Julia; the new character in Sesame Street who has Autism.
