Today we had an assembly for the whole school about the forthcoming referendum. The children initially listened to the European Anthem and looked at pictures of all of the countries that make up the EU. They recognised our flag and the photos of London and the famous landmarks. Then they learnt about the voting process and making decisions.
The assembly was totally impartial and at the end the children were given the opportunity to stand up to show who would leave and then stand to show who would stay in the EU. There was an overwhelming majority in favour of remaining a member. Is this an indicator? We will have to wait until Friday to know the outcome of the national vote.
If you take your child to the polling station tomorrow perhaps you could allow them to see the ballot paper as this is history in the making.
