Chinese New Year
Next week we are celebrating Chinese New Year in school. We will be doing lots of different cross curricular activities so please talk to your child about 2020 and the year of the Rat. There are lots of stories online to share with your children.
In February we will be visiting Tesco on a school trip, more information to follow Monday.
Here is our latest newsletter. Any questions or concerns no matter how small, please speak to a member of staff. Have a great weekend,
10/1/20 Welcome back
Welcome back to the new school term. Happy New Year to everyone, we hope you all had a great Christmas holiday and are feeling refreshed ready for the new year. Thank you once again from all the staff for your kind words and generosity over the festive period we were all very overwhelmed by it.
This half term our topic is 'Superheroes' and our classrooms have all begun to be overrun by children dressed as their favourite characters. Children have spent time discussing the word hero and talking about real life superheroes too! Thank you so much to those of you who have donated figures, lego etc to support the children's learning. We have had a visit from the Evil Pea from the book Supertato and the children have loved it.
Our next instalment of the weekly newsletter is below, once again if you have any questions at all about your child's learning please don't hesitate to ask.
Our reading numbers were extremely low this week, please continue to support your child at home by reading to them, with them and practising their words in their green books. Children will be coming home with new reading books very soon.
Christmas and next term.
Thank you so much for your generosity and kind gifts and cards that we received we feel very lucky and really appreciate you kind words.
The children have been mega excited all week and have loved having a visit from the Christmas elves. We have been very busy in Santa's workshop! It's party day tomorrow so children can come in their party clothes.
Next half term our topic is 'superheroes' where we will be learning lots of new and exciting things. If you do have any figures, vehicles, small world or books that you no longer use (or want to get rid of) then please donate them to Reception.
If we don't see you personally, have a great Christmas, keep safe and enjoy your time with the children and we will see you all in the new year.
Many thanks again,
These are the target cards we use with the children to show progression for English and Maths. Each child has them inside their books so they can be easily referred to. Starting at the bottom of the tree and moving upwards for expectations by the end of reception. The children should currently be working in the 40-60 months band. You can use these to support your child at home.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
Week 5 - Christmas countdown in full flow!
This time of year is always a very busy time in school and we have begun preparations for our Christmas performance. The children are very excited about performing and we have started to practice the songs we will sing to you. The children will not be bringing homework home in the lead up to Christmas as we would like you to enjoy singing and learning the words to the songs. You can discuss the meaning of some of the words your children may not know for example manger. There is a link to the music on our weekly newsletter.
If you have any concerns about your child, no mater how small then please come and see us so we can help and support you to make everyone's life a little easier.
Have a great weekend everyone

How to help
P.E. Clothes and School Uniform
Please remember to ensure all of your child's belongings are named. There have been a few children misplacing cardigans, jumpers and even shoes over the last week and these are much easier to locate if they have names in them.
Please sign up online to ensure you have a time slot booked.
Reception had by far the lowest numbers in the school this week therefore can we ask that you please ensure your child's reading record is signed every night . Reading is very important and once children are able to read it enables them to access so much more. We really hope our numbers increase this week.
Thank you for your continued support.
Year R Teachers
Any parents that are yet to sign up for parents evening next week, please do so through the link sent via parent mail. Alternatively please speak to the class teacher and they will gladly book you a time slot.
Many thanks and we look forward to seeing you all next week.
