Homework Information
Year 1 homework is set weekly at the end of the day on a Friday via Google Classroom. Log in to Google Classroom with your child’s details. Once the homework has been completed please send it to your child’s class teacher via Class Dojo Portfolio. We will award children with a Dojo point for each piece of completed homework.
Reading Information
We ask that you hear your child read 4 times a week. When reading with your child please encourage the use of phonics to sound out new vocabulary, ask comprehension questions, and model how to read fluently with expression. Once the Homework Diary has been checked, each Monday we will award children with a Dojo point for reading 4 times a week.
Spellings Information
Each week on a Friday we give 6 spelling words to be practised at home. These weekly spellings are posted to Google Classroom at the end of the school day. On the following Friday, these 6 spelling words are tested. Your child will bring their spelling book home for you to check their results. We kindly ask you not to write in the spelling books please. The children will be awarded a Dojo point for 6 correct spellings.
PE days
On PE days, children should come to school wearing their school PE kit with their hair tied up and earrings removed. During the Winter, P.E. lessons may take place outside so please wear a plain tracksuit during these months.
Class Dojo
Please contact your child’s class teacher via Class Dojo as this is our method of regular communication. There is a weekly update posted to the Dojo Class Story every Friday. These updates include important year group reminders, the learning objectives for the following week and Child of the Week celebrations.
